Witness is a piece in the Inherited Light series, which explores the depth of core human virtues. The painting depicts a solitary woman on a rocky shore, watching two tigers drift past on a misty waterway. This work explores the virtue of restraint : specifically, observation as an active form of power and the wisdom of knowing when to pause and let external forces pass without interference. Mirroring the series’ signature monochromatic blue palette, the cool tones represent a disciplined mind rather than emotion.
