This piece is inspired by that moody, cinematic atmosphere of a city at night. I’ve always been fascinated by how the modern pop scene is built on a sense of detachment, even while being flooded with vibrant neon light. In this painting, the women are sitting together on a bench, but each is completely isolated in her own world, under the heavy glare of the 'Candy' and 'Open' signs. The glowing pinks and greens dictate the mood, turning a casual hangout into a hazy, disconnected dream. I used oil pastels to build a thick, raw texture that captures the humid, gritty energy of a hot summer night. Care Instructions: Because oil pastel remains permanently workable and vulnerable to smudging, it is highly advised to frame this artwork under glass with a mat/spacer to protect the surface and preserve the vibrant texture for the long term.
