This contemporary oil painting is a study of sensory memory, born from my time living in Malaysia. Rather than a literal depiction of the landscape, the artwork translates the heavy, humid heat of the tropics directly into color and texture. The composition captures a moment where intense tropical light saturates the environment to the point of distortion, blurring the physical boundaries between the plumage of the three hornbills and the dense hibiscus blooms surrounding them.
